Common questions
How do I open the grown-ups area?
On the home screen, tap Grown-ups and answer the multiplication question. After two wrong answers in a row, the question pauses for a minute. The grown-ups area closes by itself when you leave the app.
How do I unlock the full version, or restore it on another device?
In the grown-ups area, go to Full Version and tap Unlock Full Version. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription. If you bought it before, on this or another device, tap Restore Purchases there; you won't be charged again. With Family Sharing, everyone in your family group can use it, and with Ask to Buy, the full version unlocks by itself once the request is approved.
The full version can't be bought on this device.
In-app purchases may be turned off. You can allow them in Settings › Screen Time › Content & Privacy Restrictions. Buying and restoring also need an internet connection.
How do I ask for a refund?
Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. After a refund, the full-version pictures are locked again.
Where are the paintings saved? Can I move them to a new device?
Paintings are saved only on the device, never on our servers (we don't have any). They are part of the device's iCloud or computer backup, so restoring that backup onto a new device brings them along. Deleting the app deletes its paintings.
How do I save, share or print a painting?
In the grown-ups area, open Saved Paintings under Artworks and choose a painting. You can share a full-resolution picture or a printable page (Save Image in the share sheet puts it in Photos), or print it with AirPrint.
Can I turn off the music, sounds or animations?
Yes. In the grown-ups area you can turn off background music and sound effects, reduce animations and turn off haptic feedback. Animations are also reduced when Reduce Motion is on in Settings › Accessibility.
Does it need the internet? Which devices and languages does it support?
Coloring and drawing work offline; only buying and restoring the full version need a connection. Serena Paints runs on iPad and iPhone with iPadOS or iOS 17 or later, in English and Simplified Chinese. You can switch the language in the grown-ups area.
